In two words. It’s good. I’m just glad it’s a R-Rated comedy. It’s no “40 Year Old Virgin” or “Superbad” but it’s 100x better than the crap that Hollywood keeps forcing into theaters.
This film is about two older men whose hearts are are stolen by two young boys. I believe this film is reboot of "The Hand That Rocks The Cradle." Danny (Paul Rudd) and Wheeler (Sean William Scott) are business partners that get into some legal trouble. There only way out is by doing community service at a local "Big Brother" program called "Sturdy Wings".
The program is ran by a former crack head. This former crack head pairs Danny and Wheeler with the youths. For the next 100 hours Danny and Wheeler take the children to the movies, to dinner and various other enchanted evenings.
I don't want to give away too much. But as a reviewer, I feel the need to explain how heart moving this film was. The struggles that the children's families have with Danny and Wheeler and how they learn to accept them. How Little Ronnie's mental wall breaks down and allows Wheeler into his life. How Danny learns to accept Augie's roleplaying antics.
I hope guys like Paul Rudd will help us wash away the PG-13, family friendly barriers that keep me from laughing.
I give “Role Models” a venti sized love rocket. (right in the ass)
And a little side note to Hollywood:
It’s 2009. The audience wants to be captivated by racist jokes, penis jokes, and anything that is typically found on the wall’s of rest room stalls. Everyone has access to the internet now. We don’t laugh at the same jokes we did 10 years ago. Sorry Adam Sandler but you haven't been funny since you were chasing penguins in "Billy Madison"
I want controversy! It’s time we stood up together and laughed at the mentally retarded, the crippled and the less fortunate.
It’s funny, I know it.. You know it.
